2NE1 crowned as “2011 Best New Band in the World” + headline MTV Iggy’s concert in New York

After six weeks of online voting, 2NE1 wins the “2011 Best New Band in the World”, as created and promoted by MTV Iggy. Overriding other nominees from top artists from other countries, 2NE1 emerged as the true winner as this year’s best new band.

Aside from that, 2NE1 is also set to celebrate the feat by headlining MTV Iggy’s upcoming gig in New York on December 12. The event will take place in MTV’s Time Square Studios and will be streamed through MTV Iggy’s website as well as MTV’s jumbotreen screen in Times Square. Confirmed details for the event are yet to be announced so stay tuned!

B1A4 to release debut album in Japan on January 25

WM Entertainment confirms that B1A4 will be releasing their first album in Japan in January next year. Earlier today, an official confirmed that they will release a licensed version of their album in Japan on January 25. It will feature some of their Korean hit songs such as “Ok” and “Beautiful Target”.

At the moment, the group is also preparing for their first showcase titled “B1A4 — JAPAN SHOWCASE LIVE 2011” which will take place at the Stellar Ball in Shinagawa Prince Hotel in Tokyo on December 9. The representative further added that the group is rehearsing their choreography and songs, as well as learning the language. Just last month, B1A4 signed an exclusive contract with top Japanese agency Pony Canyon.

“SMTOWN LIVE in TOKYO” to be aired in Japan this November 13th

After holding a successful concert in Tokyo, Japan, local fans will now be bale to catch the special edition of “SMTOWN LIVE in TOKYO” as it airs on Japanese satellite TV Station, Wowow, on a November 13. This will also be the first time that a SM Entertainment concert will be aired on Japanese television.

The concert took place place last September 3-4 at the Tokyo Dome which attracted at least 150,000 of their Japanese fans.

“WhatBecomes” continues its online attack against Tablo

As Tablo successfully returns to the music scene with the release of his first solo album in YG Entertainment, the person in charge of “WhatBecomes” continues to be at large online. “WhatBecomes” is the website created by the same person who spread rumours about Tablo’s academic credentials, which ended up in a lawsuit last year.

However, on October 21, the said owner opened up another ‘We Want the Truth from Tablo (TaJinYo)’ online cafe and already attracted 780 members upon its launch. The return came just one year after the online cafe with the original name was shut down. The new members were also keen on raising their suspicisions once again on Tablo’s school records and continued on posting malicious comments and rumours against the singer.

Kim Hyunjoong to release solo album in Japan this January

Korean actor and singer Kim Hyunjoong recently announced the release of his upcoming solo album in Japan next year, as a press conference was held at the Osaka International Convention Center in Japan last November 9th. The album is set to be released on January 25.

On the said press conference, they acknowledged the report that Kim Hyunjoong will be kicking off a eight city tour in the country, which is expected to draw at least 30,000 fans of his fans. The tickets were also sold out in a record time, confirming Kim Hyunjoong’s popularity in the country.

Kim Hyunjoong was further quoted saying, “I will give [the fans] an awesome show. I also want to have a ‘communication time’ that matches the distinct characteristics of each city. “My dream is [to perform] at the Budokan in Japan. Next, an arena tour, then a concert at the Tokyo Dome. I will try my best to make my dream a reality as soon as possible.”

“Girlfriend” is also available for download on Korean music websites and iTunes. Meanwhile, the track is said to be written and arranged by Jay Park himself, as it tells the story of ones devotion to one woman.

[OH!KPOP EXCLUSIVE] Big Bang arriving at London Heathrow Airport

On the 3rd of November, Big Bang arrived in London Heathrow Airport, after fans got the word that they will be heading to Belfast to attend this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards. The group, along with their team, arrived at six in the evening, and was warmly greeted by a number of local fans who waited for hours to see them.

The arrival was also a feat as this will be one of the first moments that the Big Bang appeared as a group, following Daesung’s car accident and Gdragon’s marijuana scandal. Big Bang is set to attend this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards after being nominated under the “Worldwide Act” category. Voting is still open and you can still support Big Bang here.

“Girlfriend” is revealed to be an R&B song which was written by Jay Park himself, and tells the story of a man’s love to only one woman. After being released on South Korea’s music sites today, “Girlfriend” will also be available for download via iTunes tomorrow.

SHINee’s fans crowd London’s Heathrow Airport

Set to perform in the opening gala for the “2011 London Korean Film Festival”, SHINee was warmly greeted by their British fans as they arrived in London’s Heathrow Airport.Upon their arrival in the country, SHINee was welcomed by a number of local fans who waited for them in the airport, despite being a weekday evening. They were reported to have prepared fansigns and chants to the group, as they walked by the arrivals hall yesterday.

SHInee continues to make waves in the country after crashing Odeon’s servers the moment tickets for the event were released. Tickets were reported to have been sold out a minute after its release last October 27. Meanwhile, SHINee will be performing for the opening gala ceremony for the “2011 London Korean Film Festival” in Odeon’s West End in Leicester Square on November 3.
