With the popularity of Korean Pop concerts in Seoul’s Olympic Park, it was confirmed today that the country’s first pop concert hall is set to open. According to the Culture Ministry and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, they have been working on the project to turn an indoor tennis court in the park into a hall for the past year and is set to open on the 22nd of June.

The proposed pop concert hall, a first within the country, is reported to be at least eleven thousand square meters which will house a main concert hall with 4,000 seats and a small venue with 240 seats for independent events.

The concert hall is set to be at least two stories high, with an underground level which will become home to a permanent exhibition on the history of pop music and spaces for music classes.

Meanwhile, to celebrate the opening of the new concert hall – Korean idol groups such as Super Junior, 2PM, 4Minute and After School is set to perform on its opening date. The new concert hall will also be the venue to showcase 2NE1’s first concert in August.
