Just yesterday, an article about a SNSD and KARA presented inappropriately in a Japanese manga surfaced on various publications and fan sites and has ignited a controversy in Korea. In the manga, Korean performers in the form of SNSD and Kara were portrayed as acts who became famous due to sexual favours and other transactions. ON the 13th of January, DSP Entertainment sent out a statement saying : The information is incorrect”, because the comic presents negative, sexual-related situations within the Korean music industry as if they were the truth. Indeed, the situations were being ported as the truth, as members of the Japanese community 2ch who stated that the situations in the manga were “completely the truth” and that “[Girls’ Generation’s and KARA’s] songs are in Japanese” so it is not K-pop. Meanwhile, both SM and DSP Entertainment are confirmed to be arranging an immediate legal action for the defamation the manga portrayed. Comments?
